• On the Fraction Strips handout you can see a bar divided into different
proportions on each line. The fractions of each have been labelled for you.
• Some percentages are easy to simplify. Work in a group of 2-3 to identify the
percentage equivalent of the fractions in each row and right them in a list to
the right under the 100%.
• If you can calculate the percentages in the Fraction Strips, multiples of these
should also be fairly easy to calculate. One example is sown in the table
underneath. Fill it in with other percentages that can be calculated in this way.

● 10% = 12 so 5% = 6 (half of 10%)
● So, 40% = 4 x 12 = 48
● and 5% = 6
