AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE &

CREW MANAGEMENT
Maintenance
T A A
What Is Aircraft Maintenance?

Refers to the planned and systematic actions

performed on an aircraft .

1. To ensure aircrafts airworthiness, safety, and

reliability.

2. Actions include inspections, repairs, servicing,

and replacements of components.

3. Aimed at guaranteeing that an aircraft functions

correctly and complies with the highest safety
standards.
Objectives of Aircraft Maintenance:

Safety :
The primary objective of aircraft maintenance is to ensure the safety
of passengers and crew.
Regular maintenance checks identify and rectify potential issues
before they can compromise flight safety.

Reliability:
Maintenance helps prevent unexpected breakdowns and
ensures aircraft can perform their missions without
disruptions.

Compliance:
Compliance of regulations to keep an aircraft legally airworthy.
Following these regulations are mandatory
The Guardians of Flight

In the Aviation Industry the safe and efficient operation of aircraft relies heavily on
the expertise and dedication of two integral roles:

1. Aircraft Engineers
2. Mechanics.

responsible for ensuring the airworthiness, reliability, and safety of every aircraft.
Aircraft Engineers
Highly trained individuals with specialized knowledge in aircraft design, systems, and maintenance.

They are the architects of flight, involved in the conceptualization, design, and development of aircraft.

1. Design and Development: new aircraft models, They work on aerodynamics, structural integrity, propulsion
systems, and avionics to create cutting-edge aircraft.

2. Certification:ensure that newly designed or modified aircraft meet stringent safety and performance standards.
They collaborate with aviation authorities to obtain the necessary certifications.

3. Maintenance Program Design: Engineers develop maintenance programs that outline when and how aircraft
should be inspected, repaired, and overhauled to ensure ongoing airworthiness.

4. Research and Innovation: They are at the forefront of aviation innovation, exploring new materials,
technologies, and methodologies to enhance aircraft performance and safety.

Aircraft Mechanics
known as Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs), are the hands-on experts
responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft. They ensure that aircraft are in
optimal condition for every flight.
1. Scheduled Maintenance: Mechanics perform routine checks and inspections
as per maintenance schedules, ensuring that all components of the aircraft are
functioning correctly.
2. Repairs and Troubleshooting: When issues or defects arise, mechanics
diagnose problems, make necessary repairs, and replace faulty components to
maintain airworthiness.
3. Documentation: They maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities,
ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and providing a complete
maintenance history for each aircraft.
4. Emergency Response: In case of unscheduled maintenance or emergencies,
mechanics are on standby to rapidly address issues and ensure the aircraft can
return to service safely.
