MOTIVATIONAL ACTIVITY
Direction: For this activity, I will be showing you
pictures with a statement on them and you just
have to tell me if you Agree or disagree with the
given statement. For this activity, you only have 2
minutes to read and react to each of the given
statements.

EXPRESSED IN A TEXT.
ASSERTION

• An assertion is a stylistic approach or


technique involving a strong declaration, a forceful
or confident and positive statement regarding a
belief or a fact. Often, it is without proof or any
support.
• An assertion is an honest and appropriate
expression of one’s feelings, opinions, and needs.
REACTION
• A reaction is an action taken in response to
something. Reacting to the assertion is an
essential skill in language learning. Making
reactions will allow readers to express their
thoughts and feelings about the text or situations
presented. One can decide to agree or disagree
with the given text.
AN ASSERTION IS A STATEMENT
STATED BY SOMEONE IN A
DECLARATIVE WAY. WHILE A
REACTION IS YOUR RESPONSE TO
THE SAID STATEMENT.
In reacting to the assertions made by the author in the text
we have four things that you should remember :
1. Read and understand the text.

2. Analyze the assertion made by the author.

3. State your reaction clearly.

4. Support your ideas and opinions by explaining your


stand.
EXAMPLES:
Assertion:
Drinking a glass of milk can make our bones stronger.

Reaction:
Yes, I drink a glass of milk every day and it makes my
bones and teeth healthy and stronger.
Assertion:
My friend Joan invited me to eat at Mcdonalds
since it is the best fast food in town.

Reaction:
No, I will not go with her since it’s not safe there.
Besides, it is not the best fast food in town.
Assertion:
There should be a limit to the number of
passengers on a school bus.

Reaction:
Absolutely, so that people can still have privacy
and social distancing will be observed.
