Beat
is the basic unit of rhythm in music. It is a
regular pulse which divides the time into
equal units. Beats are accented and
unaccented. An accented beats is one that is
performed with more emphasis or force than
the other beats. The accented or strong beat
is the most important beat in a group of beats.
The rhythm of the musical sounds and silences
occur according to beats and beats are
grouped into measure.
Meter
is the basic pattern of
beats in a piece of
music.
3 Kinds of Meter
Two Beat Meter- has one strong beat and one weak beat in
each measure.

2. Three Beat Meter- has one strong beat and two weak beats
in each measure.

3. Four Beat Meter- Has one strong beat for the first beat, weak
beats for the second and fourth beats, and a stronger beat than
the second and the fourth ( but not as strong as the first) for
the third beat.

perform two beat meter by clapping
there hands while the second group
will perform three beat meter by
clapping.
