Climate

 Climate is the long-term pattern of the weather in a

particular area.
 It is measured by assessing the patterns of variation in
temperature, humidity, pressure, wind, and etc variables
in a given region over long periods of time.
 Climate is different from weather. Weather only describes
the short-term conditions of these variables in a given
region.
Global warming and Climate change

 Global warming is the long-term rise in the average

temperature of the Earth’s climate. It is a major aspect of
climate change.
 Global warming is the mainly human-caused increase in
global surface temperature, while climate change includes
both global warming and its effects, as changes in
precipitaton.
Climate change cause and Evidence

The current Earth climate warming trend is extremely likely

(over 95% probability) to be the result of human activity
since the mid-20th century.
The evidence for rapid climate change includes:
1. Global Temperature rise.
2. Warming Oceans.
3. Shrinking Ice Sheets and Snow Cover.
4. Extreme Weather Events.
5. Ocean Acidification.
Affects of Climate change on Agriculture

 Increase in CO2 + Increase in Temperature.

 Change in crop water requirement.
 Quality of agricultural produces.
 Fluctuation in food production.
 Fertilizer use efficiency + Green House Gas emission.
Impact of Climate change on Agriculture

 Shift in climatic and agriculture zones.

 Effect on soil organic matter and soil fertility.
 Effect on biological health of soil.
 Reduced soil water availability.
 Impact on plant growth.
 Impact on soil production.
Major challenges of Agriculture

 Climate change-variability-extremes.
 Soil fertility.
 Water management.
 Impact of hazardous pesticides and nitrogen fertilizers.
 Burning of crop residue.
 Alkalinity of soils.
Steps to reduce climate changes

 Drive biofuel cars.

 Take a walk instead of driving to reduce the number of
cars on the roads.
 Government and private individuals should stop flaring
gas.
 Stop burning of bush and plastic.
 Recycle and reuse waste.
Conclusion

In the change of climate the soil erosion and soil degradation

is increases.Soil fertility would also be affected by global
warming.climate change will also cause soils to warm and
deceases the water crop availability. So, we can take the
important steps to crotrol global warming and changes in
climate.
