• You should adopt a three- paragraph approach.
• Paragraph 1: Provide an argument in support of the statement in the
question, again developed with at least three linked strands.
• Paragraph 2: You should develop a counter argument to the
statement, in order to provide balance. This should be as developed
as the first.
• Paragraph 3: conclusion- You should decide why one argument is
stronger than the other

Explain Questions – Answering them
• You need to make a VALID point and then support it with two linked
strands of development.
• You need to use clear connectives such as “ THEREFORE’
• “THIS LEADS TO”, “BECAUSE”, “SO” and “AS A RESULT”
• TRY TO AVOID THE WORD “ALSO” as it shows that you are moving to
another point.
• Be careful of “Explain One method….questions . Make sure you explain
a method rather than a benefit or a drawback in this case. A benefit or
drawback will not be answering the question.
Today we will continue with our 6 mark Question-
(Analyse and Discuss)- there will be 2 Analyse
Questions based on case study and 1 Discuss
question
1) When you read a case study , Highlight the key business terms that you could use in
your answer to display subject knowledge. ( Remember what we marked
last time)
2) Highlight information that could help you to answer the question.
3) When deciding what to write – Plan your answer out
4) Look at the case study for information you could use or suggestion for points you
can make in your answer
5) Plan your answer out –on exam paper or head
6) Use your business knowledge to answer the question.
