Introduction of Diodes
• The diode is a simple element
• Like a resistor, it has two terminals
• Its use in rectifire is the most common
application
• It have two types
1)P type
2)N Type
Physical structure of diode

•Diode are formed by joining P-Type and N-Type

 Diode is an electric device which allow current to
flow only in one diraction
 The voltage applied to the semi conductor diode is
referred to as bias voltage
• There are two types of voltage
1. Forward biased
2. Reversed biased
Forward Biased
• +ve terminal of battry connected with p-type
• -ve terminal of battry connected with n-type
Reversed biased
• +ve terminal of battry connected with n-type
• -ve terminal of battry connected with p-type

• P-n jubction diode

• LED diod

• Photo diode

• Zener diode
Application of diode
• Rectifire circuit

• Half wave rectifire

• Full wave rectifire

• Bridge rectifire
