Introduction
A development plan that will lead to Cagayan de Oro City becoming the nation’s fourth
economic hub or in layman’s terms “Metro Cagayan de Oro” will be established by the
year 2025. With that the city will become the newest “Metropolitan Center” due to it’s
growth and popularized system. This highly been chosen as our thesis study since we are in
transition and maybe closer to the actual change in our hometown. Hence, in reshaping and
facing a new transition, the local government has something to do with the formal power of
cities and, as a result, establishes the constrained legal context for which municipalities
must operate. On that account, this research serves the purpose of meeting the null or
alternative hypothesis and recommendations on what we can develop further of this
existing state of affairs.
Significance of the Study
The findings of the researcher’s study will benefit society, the people inside
Cagayan de Oro City, students, and the Liceo de Cagayan University.
Considering that metro has a lot of advantages, the rapid changes and factors
in this study will highly affect all aspects in the developing city. On that
note, the findings and after the researcher measure the effects will aid the
school or the whole community any action plan, flexible program, and
system that can address the need of the study
Methodology

This chapter deals with the research methodologies on the Urban

Approach: Reshaping Metro-Cagayan In the Information Age. It
presents the research design and setting, protocol. The
researcher’s study aims to determine and measure its effects and
consider how data is established and analyzed. The following
factors are considered when looking at the nature of the study.
Research Setting
The researcher’s study will be conducted at Cagayan de Oro City. officially the
City of Cagayan de Oro, is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the region of
Northern Mindanao, Philippines. It is the capital of the province of Misamis
Oriental where it is geographically situated but governed administratively
independent from the provincial government.
Research Design
This study will be using a qualitative method, and the researcher will
utilize the Causal-Comparative research design. This research method
mainly depends on the factor of comparison. Also called quasi-
experimental research, this quantitative research method will be the
researcher's maneuver to conclude the cause-effect equation between two
or more variables, where one variable is dependent on the other
independent variable (Frey,2018).
Results and Discussion
Metro CDO is presently regarded as a regional growth area. In the long run, however, it would be inevitable to view
the area as an urban area transforming itself into a metropolitan settlement. While there is yet to evolve a
functioning Metro CDO, it may not be long, though, for this to be evident considering the rapid urbanization
being experienced in the area which will further accelerate as industrialization and trading activities are
vigorously pursued. The results of the survey show an overwhelming 80% acceptability of the shared
responsibility of metropolitan Cagayan de Oro. The LGUs are convinced that the development of metropolitan
Cagayan de Oro will stem from the synergistic cooperation of all concerned: the city, the 15 municipalities
along with the two provincial governments, the line agencies, the NGOs/private sector, the citizenry, and the
Regional Development Council. The 20% hesitation does not mean outright reluctance or nonacceptance but is
indicative of the need for a clearer understanding of the whole concept, a greater appreciation and
understanding of their responsibilities and duties as well as the benefits that could be derived from a
metropolitan arrangement.
Conclusion
Taken as a regional growth area, Metro CDO can be seen as a strategic
area for locating major infrastructural and capital investments to set the
stage for the economic growth of the region. Seen as a metropolis, it
provides a directed focus on the challenges that would have to be
inevitably addressed unique to such form of an urban area. On top of that,
it requires thorough strategic planning in all aspects as it indulges in
development. With the use of forces, agencies, and information age,
reshaping could happen in the near future.
