ROLE OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IN
VARIOUS DISORDERS

Occupational therapy plays a significant role in addressing various child psychiatry

conditions:

1: PTSD : Occupational therapy helps individuals manage trauma-related symptoms

through activities that promote relaxation, stress reduction, and emotional regulation.

2: Conduct Disorder: Occupational therapy can focus on developing social skills,

anger management, and impulse control through structured activities and
interventions.
3: Schizophrenia: Occupational therapy assists in enhancing daily living skills,
promoting structure, and fostering engagement in meaningful activities to improve overall
functioning.
4: Substance Abuse: Occupational therapy aids individuals in developing healthy
routines, coping strategies, and identifying alternative activities to replace substance use.
5: Eating Disorders: Occupational therapy supports the development of a positive
relationship with food and body image through activities that focus on self-care, self-
esteem, and healthy habits.

In all these cases, occupational therapists work as part of a multidisciplinary team to tailor
interventions to each individual’s needs, helping them regain independence and improve
their overall quality of life.
