• Pigafetta instantly became a
classic prominent literary
men in the West like Willam
Shakespeare, Michael de
Montaigne, Giambattista
Vico.
ANTONIO PIGAFETTA
• Born in the first year of the 15th century.
• His parents are Giovanni Pigaffeta and Angela
Zoga.
• Has a two siblings, and he is the eldest
among the two.
• A native Vicenza, a town about hundred
kilometers west of Vinice, Italy.
• Studied astronomy, geography, and
cartography .
• Accompanied Ferdinand Magellan in the
famous expedition which began in August
1519 and ended in September 1522.
• A venetian scholar and explorer.
• The first voyage around the world by Antonio
Pigafetta was written on board, one of the Five
ships that was first circumnavigate during an
expedition that was led the Portuguese explorer,
Ferdinand Magellan.
• Name of the Spanish fleet that was led by
Ferdinand Magellan: Armanda de Molucca.
• Provided by King Charles V.
Ferdinand Magellan
• Born into a family of Portuguese (1480-
1521), he became a skilled sailor.
• Was a Portuguese explorer who is credited
with masterminding the first expedition to
circumnavigate the world.
• The first European recorded to have
landed in the Philippines.
• He arrived in March 1521 during the
circumnavigation around the world.

• In Pigafettas account, there
fleet reach what we call the
Ladrones Island or the “Island
of the Thieves”.
• The Ladrones Island is
presently known as the
Marianas Islands. These island
are located south- southeast
of Japan, west-southwest of
Hawai, north of New Guinea
and east of Philippines.
