A pronoun is used to substitute or
replace a noun in a sentence. By
using pronouns, we avoid the
overuse of nouns.
KINDS OF PRONOUNS
Personal Pronouns
They replace names of persons or
things.
EXAMPLES:
I, you, are, they, he, she, them, him, her,
me, and it
KINDS OF PRONOUNS
Indefinite Pronoun
They replaces an antecedent that is not
clearly identified.
EXAMPLES:
anyone, anything, anybody, everybody,
someone, something, few, many, others, all,
any, some, most

Interrogative Pronouns
Are used to ask questions.
EXAMPLES:
who, what, where, whose, when, whom, and
which

Demonstrative Pronouns
Are used in pointing out a particular noun.
EXAMPLES:
this, these, that, and those
CASES OF PRONOUNS
Nominative Case
A pronoun in the nominative case is used as
a subject or predicate nominative in the
sentence.
EXAMPLES:
I, we, you, they, he, she, and it.
CASES OF PRONOUNS
Objective Case
The pronouns me, you, him, her, us, it, and them
are also called object pronouns. They function
as objects in sentences in three ways:
1. Direct Object – receiver of the action and answers the
question who or what.
2. Indirect Object – answers the question whom.
3. Object of the preposition – preceded by a preposition in a
prepositional phrase.
CASES OF PRONOUNS
Possessive Case
The pronouns in the possessive case are
mine, yours, his, hers, ours, and theirs.
Possessive pronouns replace possessive
nouns to show ownership.
