What is culture?
 it is cultivated behavior; that is the totally of a person’s
learned, accumulated experience which is socially transmitted,
or more briefly, behavior through social learning.

 is a way of life of a group of people– the behavior, beliefs,

values and symbols that they accept, generally without
thinking about them, and passed along by communication and
imitation from one generation to the next.

 is a sum of total of the learned behavior of a group of

people that are generally considered to be the tradition of
that people and are transmitted from generation to
generation.
What is history?
• Is the study of the past.
• History also includes the academic discipline that
uses a narrative to describe, examine, question, and
analyze a sequence of past events and investigate
the patterns of cause and effect related to them.
• Provides us with a sense of identity.
• Provides sense of context for our lives and our
existence.
• Help us understand the way things are and how
we might approach the future.
History matters because it helps us as individuals and as
societies to understand why our societies are the way they
are and what they value.
What is Environment?

 is a place where different things, living (biotic) or

non- living (a biotic), constantly interact with and adapt
to conditions in their environment.
A person environment is event and culture that the
person lived in.
The environment is everything around us.
A persons beliefs and actions depend on his
environment.
 Impacts of environment

1. The environment can facilitate or discourage

interactions among people ( and the subsequent benefits
of social support).
2. The environment can influence peoples
behavior and motivation to act.
3. The environment can influence mood.
 Importance of knowing the Filipino Culture, History,
and environment

1. We get to understand the people and the world better.

2. It helps us understand ourselves.
3. Knowledge of own culture is increased.
4. It helps us overcome and prevent racial and ethnic divisions.
5. We get exposure to new experiences.
6. We become more prepared to cope with the ever-changing
world.
7. It helps us develop a new level of appreciation for just about
everything.

Culture is the word for the ‘way of life’ of
groups of people, meaning, the way they
do things. Culture is seen in people’s
writing, religion, music, clothes, cooking
and in what they do. Some cultures place
significant value in things.
Philippines is abundant in culture
enriched in the family. As we can
observe, some families have traditions
and values that they have inherited
from their forefathers which until now
they have observed and follow.
Philippine heritage is an evidence of our
cultural history and development. It
reflects our shared values and a tangible
proof of Filipino excellence and creativity.

A Filipino society that values and

preserves its cultural heritage instills pride
of place and strengthens Philippine
national identity.
