Active,

Inactive and
Extinct
Volcanoes
Do you have any
knowledge about active,
inactive, and extinct
volcanoes?
What is Active
volcano?
It is a volcano that has erupted
during the Holocene (the current
geologic epoch of last 10,000
years), is currently erupting, or has
the potential to erupt in the future.
Examples of Active Volcano:

Mayon Volcano Taal Volcano

Examples of Active Volcano:

Mount Arayat Mount Banahaw

Examples of Active Volcano:

Mount Pinatubo Mount Iriga

Examples of Active Volcano:

Examples of Active Volcano:

Mount Pangasun Mount Musuan

Examples of Active Volcano:

What is Inactive
Volcano?
Inactive/Dormant Volcano is a volcano
that erupted a thousand years ago but
might erupt again in the future.
Examples of Inactive Volcano:

Mount Malepunyo Mount Capistrano

Examples of Inactive Volcano:

Mount Makiling Mount Bulangao

Examples of Inactive Volcano:

Mt. Mahagnao Mount Pulag

Examples of Inactive Volcano:

Examples of Inactive Volcano:

Mount Elephant in Mount Mahagnao

What is Extinct Volcano?
Extinct volcanoes are those which
scientists consider unlikely to
erupt again. A volcano which has
not erupted in the past 10,000
years is extinct.
Examples of Extinct Volcano:

Mt. Alu Mount Abuyog

Examples of Extinct Volcano:

Mt. Bud Dajo Mt. Leonard Kniaseff

Examples of Extinct Volcano:

Mount Butay
Mount Iraya
Examples of Extinct Volcano:

Ireland Mexico
Examples of Extinct Volcano:

Edinburgh Castle in Mt. Zuidwal in

Scotland Netherlands
What is the difference of active,
inactive, and extinct volcano?
An Active volcano is more likely to erupt as it erupted just recently and it has a
strong volcanic activity, then Inactive volcanoes are volcanoes that didn't erupt
for a long time and got silent but it's expected to erupt in the future if the magma
rises again and does a volcanic activity but if it doesn't it will become frozen in
time and will be called an extinct volcano, and lastly Extinct volcanoes, these
volcanoes didn't erupt for like 10,000 years and even sometimes billions if years,
it remains still and more unlikely to erupt again because sometimes it's crater is
covered and they are cut off from their magma flow so they don't have enough
lava to erupt again
