Session Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session students will be able to:

Sharing Group Presentations
As this is a group task, it is important that each member of the team works on the
PowerPoint slides.
It would be unfair to leave this to one individual.

Thankfully there is a way to share your document so that each member of the
team can edit the same presentation, in real time.

We can do this through Microsoft OneDrive; for more information, you can access
Moodle and select the document “Guide – PowerPoint and Microsoft One Drive”
on the Additional Materials.
Formative Task

1. To highlight the main historical development of the

2. To identify and discuss the key roles and functions of
the accounting and financial management industry
3. To outline the importance of the accounting and
financial management play within the industry
4. To discuss the future development of the accounting
and financial management industry
Research the following (1)
1. To highlight the main historical development of the accounting and financial
management industry
• You need to highlight AT LEAST 3 major historical events that have significantly impacted
on the development of accounting and financial management industry. You may choose from
the following:
a. any historical stages that sound appealing;
b. the new technologies;
c. the financial crises;
d. globalisation.

2. To identify and discuss the key roles and functions of the accounting and financial
management industry
• accounting related roles (e.g., Book-keeper, auditor, chartered accountant, payroll clerk);
• finance related roles (e.g., investment banker, financial analyst, financial managers);
• accounting functions (e.g., budgeting, accounts payable and receivable)
• financial management functions (e.g., financial planning, financial decision-making, financial
reporting, legal compliance)

3. To outline the importance of the accounting and financial management
play within the industry
• You need to outline AT LEAST 3 importance of accounting and financial
management activities/functions. Your answer may include financial planning,
planning and acquisition of fund, enhancing profitability and value of the entity.

4. To discuss the future development of the accounting and financial


management industry
• You have to identify and discuss AT LEAST 3 future developments within the field
of accounting and finance. For instance, you may consider how the adoption of
information technology (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, Cloud computing, etc.) is
enhancing productivity.
