Viking Battle Axe



 Introduction
-the Vikings were Scandinavian fighters

-attacked most of Europe‘s coasts from the 8th-10th century

-great warriors and fantastic sailors too

-successful and powerful

-lot of weapons and tools, inclueding the battle axe

-battle axe is the weapon I‘m going to talk about in this

presentation.
 Back to the battle axe
• battle axe was the most common Viking weapon
• quite easy to handle
• different kinds of battle axes
• you could throw, hold in hand or cut wood with
• here are some of them:

Viking throwing axe

Viking war axe
 Really?
• battle axes had little kind of spikes at the end of the handle

• Those were used for stabbing

• You could just turn it over and stab the opponent, Creative Vikings…

• every Viking owned a battle axe

• Sometimes the Vikings carved patterns on the axe for decoration 
