RIGID BODY
• A rigid body is an idealization of a body that does not deform or
change shape. Formally it is defined as a collection of particles with
the property that the distance between particles remains unchanged
during the course of motions of the body.
• It consists of no. of particles confined to a fixed geometrical shape
and size in such a way that the distance between any pair of particles
always remains constant.
• e.g a metal rod,stone etc
ROTATIONAL MOTION
• Rotational motion can be defined as the motion of an object
around a circular path, in a fixed orbit.
CENTRE OF MASS
• Centre of mass of a body or
system of a particle is defined
as, a point at which whole of
the mass of the body or all the
masses of a system of particle
appeared to be concentrated.
CENTRE OF MASS OF 2 PARTICLE
SYSTEM
• The centre of mass is an
imaginary point where one can
assume the entire mass of the
given system or object to be
positioned.
