The document discusses the selection and proper handling of measuring instruments. It identifies four key factors to consider when selecting a measuring instrument: 1) the size and type of parts to be measured, 2) the environment, 3) the skills of the operator, and 4) the cost of the equipment. It then describes various types of common measuring tools like rulers, calipers, measuring tapes, and their uses. Finally, it provides tips for proper handling of measuring instruments such as cleaning, lubricating movable parts, and checking functionality on a regular schedule.

MEHANRISUG I _ _TR_ _ E_TS STARMNILUENTSG Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify the different types and uses of measuring
tools. 2. Demonstrate how to handle the measuring or tools. 3. Value the importance of knowing the different types and uses of measuring tools. Selection of Measuring Instruments
1. Size and types of parts to be measured- it is in consideration
to the sizes, types and shapes of objects to the measuring instrument.
2. Environment- This must be considered for temperature,
humidity and pressure of an object to be measured. Selection of Measuring Instruments 3. Skilled Operator- Users of the tool must be identified beforehand to consider his or her knowledge and skill in using measuring tools.
4. Cost of equipment – choose a measuring tool that is
affordable but will not sacrifice the quality and accuracy of measurement? MEASURING TOOLS PUSH PULL RULE - is a measuring tape that coils into a compact case. It is used for measuring long , short straight length. ZIG ZAG RULE – a folded measuring tool. A rule composed of light strips of wood joined by rivets so as to be foldable, all the opening and closing parts being parallel RULER- is the most popular types of measuring tool. It is usually 6 or 12 inches in length and needed for measuring sizes and distances. CALIPER – Its device used to measure the distance between two opposite sides of an object. METER STICK – is a long, straight tool used to measure length or distances. It is usually one meter long and has markings on it that show centimeters and millimeters. COMPASS- is a tool that helps you make accurate circles and arc. It has two arms: one holds the pencil and the other acts as pivot point. PROTACTOR- A measuring instrument typically made of transparent plastic or glass used for measuring angles. Most protractors measure angles in degrees, divided into 180 equal parts. MEASURING TAPE – is a flexible used to measure length or distance. Proper Handling of Measuring Instruments
1. Regularly clean and wipe not only the measuring
tools but also is storage.
2. Lubricate measuring tools that have movable
parts to prevent it from stocking up. Proper Handling of Measuring Instruments 3. Avoid rough particles around measuring tools because they can erase graduations on the measuring tool through friction.
4. Regularly check the functionality of measuring tools
and its parts. This must be done in schedule and not just before you use the tool. Wood is one of the basic materials used to produce carpentry products, hence identifying its faces is vital to measure its size accurately. One known kind of this is the Lumber which is defined as any wooden materials sawed or split into board timber. Faces of a lumber Faces of a Lumber Lumber as defined as a swan timber. It has six (6) faces .
Measurements that can be
obtained from this is: Edge 1 to Edge2 = Width (W) Measurement that can be obtained from this is: End 1 to End 2 = Length (L) Measurement that can be obtained from this is: Face 1 and Face 2= Thickness (T)
