FESTIVAL DANCES
- cultural dances performed to the strong beats of percussion
instruments by a community of people sharing the same culture

- done in honor of a Patron Saint or in thanksgiving of a


bountiful harvest

- may be religious or secular in nature

- draw the people’s culture by portraying the people’s


ways of life through movements, costumes and
implements inherent to their place of origin

MOVEMENTS
- movements that allow the body to move from one point in space to another
- canned from two words, “locos” which means place and “motor” which means movement

- movements that are done in one point in space without transferring to another point
- don’t allow you to move from one place to the other

FLEXION TWIST
- bending - rotating a body part while the base stays stationary
- straight position to a curve position

EXTENSION TURN
- extending any part of the body from the joints - done by a circular movement of the body including
the base
NON-LOCOMOTOR
MOVEMENTS
- movements that are done in one point in space without transferring to another point
- don’t allow you to move from one place to the other

ROTATION SWING
- move a body segment allowing it to complete a - moving a body part side to side, or forward and back
circle with its motion like a pendulum

PUSH PULL
- applying force against an object to move it away - executing force to cause an object to move towards
