Like animals, plants need
water, sunlight, air, and
soil to live and grow.
1. Plants need
All water
plants use
water to transfer
nutrients back to
the roots and
leaves.
Water is normally
taken up through
the roots from the
soil. water

2. Plants need
sunlight
Light is used as
energy for
making food, a
process called
“photosynthesis”.
Too little light can
make plants weak
and think looking.
We have to make
sure that our plants
at home are placed
in area where there
is sunlight.
3. Plants need air
Plants take in
carbon dioxide from
the air to make food
and give off oxygen
that people and
animals need.
4. Plants need
The soil soil
provides a
ground to which the
roots hold on to as
the plants grows
bigger.
It also provides
plants with water
and the nutrients
they need to be
healthy.
In turn, some plants
become healthy
food for us.
Plants are very important to
humans and animals. We should
take care of them for them to live
and grow.
Plants need water, sunlight, air, and
soil.
