A preposition is a word used to link nouns, pronouns, or phrases to other words
within a sentence.

• He sat on the chair.


• There is some milk in the fridge.
• She was hiding under the table.
• He drove over the bridge.

PREPOSITIONAL PHRASE
PREPOSITIONAL PHRASE
A prepositional phrase is a group of words that consists of:
 a preposition
 the object of the preposition
 any modifiers

Example:

The witch sat on her broom.

("On" is a preposition, "broom" is the object of the preposition, and


"her" is the modifier.)
OBJECT OF THE PREPOSITION
The noun or pronoun that ends a prepositional phrase.
on her boat before noon
in a house during class
near the goat about a goon
under a mouse without a pass
