    MARKING
    SIGNALS
    What is
    opinion?
    According to Donnchaidh, Opinion refers
    to personal beliefs. It tells about how
    someone feels, thinks, or takes a stand
    about something, which is quite relevant in
    our time. These are influenced by a
    person’s experience, background
    knowledge, emotions, and preferences.
    Others may agree or disagree to an
    opinion, but they cannot dismiss it
    otherwise.
    What is a
    fact?
    Fact is something that can be verified
    or proven to be true.
    Examples:

    • My friend is Negative for Covid 19 according


    to the lab results. What is a
    fact?
    • Based on the report released by World Health
    Organization, there are 117,573,007 confirmed
    cases of Covid 19 all over the world as of
    March 10, 2021.

    Opinion-marking signals plays an
    important role in signifying that a
    statement is based on opinion. These are
    often found at the beginning of a
    sentence

    I feel happy about being a Filipino.

    It seems that Filipinos have strong family


    ties.
    From what I know, Filipinos are popular for
    being hospitable.

    find ways to survive.
