WHAT IS ABSENTEEISM ?
Absenteeism is a habitual pattern absence from a work or obligation. of

Traditionally, absenteeism has been viewed as an indicator of poor individual performance, as well as a breach of an implicit contract between the employee and employer.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY


To study the general causes for employee absenteeism. To analyze the workplace factors which leads to employee absenteeism in the organization.

To find out the most prominent general and work life factors that leads to absenteeism in the organization.

LIMITATIONS
The information provided by the employees may be subjected to personal bias.
Some of the respondents were not interested to express their views.

It is possible that some of the respondents feel that the management has backed the study and hence the reliability of the response. Due to time constraints and busy schedules it was difficult to interact with the employees completely.

FINDINGS
Employees working on a temporary basis were doing part time jobs.

Employees feel that their absence will not affect the production level of Appasamy Associates.
Transportation problem is another major issue, because frequency of buses and other mode of conveyance are very limited from the employees residence to the factory. Employees experience a higher level of stress since their work are heavy and tiresome, which makes them to be absent. Employees feel that they were very lonely in their workplace. Employees feel that they were not having sufficient level of Motivation from their super ordinates which also lead to absenteeism.

SUGGESTIONS
They can provide Transportation facility to pick up & drop from the nearest Bus stop or any of the road junction. They should not recruit any person who are over qualified & not suitable for a particular job. They can make potential employees permanent such that they will not concentrate on any of the other part time jobs. They can help the employees have get together or peer groups.

They can allot some more time to the lunch break and an off for alternate Saturdays, which reduce the stress level of the employees.
They can instruct the middle level employees to motivate their sub ordinates by having a general meeting at least once in a weeks time.

CONCLUSION
Since it is rapidly developing Medical equipments, Pharmacy Company here in Puducherry & Chennai. The Company should be very cautious while recruiting the employees.

The company should not concentrate in getting the work done, it should also give its employees some time for fun and entertainment. It has to look after that its employees are satisfied with their salary, compensation, motivation, transportation given to them. Since most of the employees working were coming under the age group of 20-30, they will like to socialize in their weekends with their friends or family, so the company can free them in their Saturdays.
