The political self is the subdivision of the self that helps an
individual navigate the tension between the competing needs
for assimilation and differentiation in the political domain. it
is these needs that contributes to the formation of smaller
subgrooups that can balance the need for inclusion and
being distinct for others.
THE NATIONAL
IDENTITY
A broad national identity is ever-present in large
societies. in the Philippines according tp legarda
(Legarda, 2016) our culture is our identity. However, a
part of that identity is a complex and heterogenous mix
of cultures.
The need for inclusion and differentiation
In the presence of these broad national identity, a feeling
of depersonalization or losing of one’s identity

These groups can be organized around a shared

grievance, or perhaps a collection of shared grievances,
which results into a politicized identity and procursor to
collective action and identity.
Political Awareness
Political Awareness is a key component in empathy,
which in turn is part of Emotional Intelligence (EI). it is
abilityu to understand different people’s hidden agenda,
and use this knowledge to your advantage

Politicals
This is an extension of political awareness the
organizational politics. organizational politics may sound
complex but it just means the power relationships that
exist when any group of people come together.
Organizational politics is a natural part of life, and of life
within an organization.

and kim James can be useful to understnd who is playing
politics, and if they are, are they doing it for self-gain or
for the good of the organization (Baddeley & James,
1987)

The term Left and Right define opposite ends of political
spectrum. A political spectrum is a way of modeling
different political positions by placing them upon a
geometric axis. The left and right extremes are
alternatively known as the liberals and the conservatives.
Conservatives
Conservatives are associated with right-leaning
movements and characterized by the firm belief that
progress should be controlled and, in some instances,
impeded in order to preserve traditional values.
 Liberals
Liberals are left-leaning, open to progress and highly
reliant in the government to solve problems. Originally,
liberals were mainly part of minority groups striving for
social changes, whereas today they may also be part of
dominant groups.

Conservatives strongly influenced by traditional and religious values, believe that the
marriage should only exist between a man and a woman. According to their
perspectives, same sex marriage are immoral and sinful

Liberals support the separation of church and state. The Bill of Rights implies separation of

and religion freedom.
