bring luck or grant
wishes?
Folklore from ancient civilizations said
metals—like copper—were gifts from gods
intended to protect people from evil. This
theory also fueled other superstitions like
charm bracelets and metal horseshoes,

HORSESHOE

The belief in the horseshoes have

its origin both, in ancient Greece
and Christianity. It was believed
that iron could cast off evil and
the crescent shape of the
horseshoe symbolised fertility
and good luck. The iron
horseshoe has a history in most
western nations and in India.
Wishbone If a chicken was killed, the
collarbone was thought to be sacred,
thus it was not touched and was left
to dry in the sun. The people
gathered around to hold the
unbroken bone and made a wish in
hopes of it bringing them good luck.
The “wishbone tradition” was
derived from this early practice.
MAPLE LEAF
It is an ancient symbol used in Northern
Europe. The symbol was believed to protect
from curses and bring good luck and
harmony around. Thus was used in various
wood decorations, gifting etc particularly in
Finland. Till today it is used by some
student's organisations as their symbol.
RABBIT’S FOOT
Why are four-leaf clovers
lucky? Four-leaf clovers are
considered lucky for their
FOUR-LEAF CLOVER rarity. In the Middle Ages, it
was believed by some Celtic
groups that wielding a four-
leaf clover would help you
see fairies, as well as ward
off evil spirits and grant the
holder good luck.
