Kabir

About Kabir historians have doesn’t got
much reliable information.
He was born between 15 – 16 century.
He was one of the most influential saints
which grown in muslim julahas which also
meant weavers.
They lived near the city benaras (present –
day Varanasi).
We get to know about him by SAKHIS and
PADS which were the songs or bhajans
composed by Kabir and sung by wandering
bhajan singers.
In his compositions, Kabir calls himself a
julaha and kori. Both mean weaver,
belonging to a lower caste. He did not
associate himself completely with either
Hindus or Muslims.
These bhajans were later kept in the books
called GURU GRANTH SAHIB ,
PANCH VANI , BIJAK which were
written by Kabir .
Kabir`s teachings were so influential that
both hindu , Islamic and priest can read
them.
He rejected the idea of religious traditions.
His poetry were composed in hindi because
it was widely spoken by local people.
Kabir only believed in one supreme god and
tolled the only path to salvation is through
bhakti and devotion .
The followers of Kabir were both hindus and
muslims.
