Lord, bless everyone,as we embark on another
day of learning.
Please give us clear minds and open hearts so we
can grasp the knowledge and lessons set before
us.
Help us to be attentive, and let Your wisdom
guide us in our studies.
Lord, I ask for Your wisdom and understanding as
we begin this class.
Help us to apply what we learn in a way that
MC NEMAR’S TEST
By: Amacio, Laby-May

WHAT IS MC NEMAR TEST?
• McNemar's test compares the proportions for two correlated dichotomous variables. These two
variables may be two responses from a single individual or two responses from a matched pair (as in
matched case-control studies).
• Is used to determine if there are differences on a dichotomous dependent variable between two
repeated measures. It can be considered to be similar to the paired-samples t-test, but for a
dichotomous rather that a continuous dependent variable. It is used to analyze pretest-posttest study
designs, as well as being commonly employed in analyzing matched pairs and case-control studies.
WHEN SHOULD MCNEMAR'S TEST BE USED?

• Problem: is there a significant difference in the use of seat belts before and after
involvement in a vehicular accident?
• Hypothesis :
Ho: There is no significant difference in the use of seatbelts before and after
involvement in a vehicular accident.
Ha: There is a significant difference in the use of seatbelts before and after
involvement in a vehicular accident.
• Level of Significance

Since the computed value is greater than or beyond the tabular
=6.76 value of 3.841 at 0.05 level of significance with 1 degree of
freedom, We reject the null hypothesis (Ho) and accept the
alternative hypothesis (Ha) that there is a significant difference in
the use of seatbelt before and after the involvement in a vehicular
accident.
