WHAT IS A PAPER AEROPLANE ?
• A paper plane is a toy airplane made from paper. The paper is folded in a certain way
so that the folded paper actually glides.
• What are paper airplanes used for?
• Folded paper airplanes are “gliders”—aircraft with no power source. Making and
playing with paper planes can lead to discussions about aerodynamics (the forces that
impact plane flight): thrust, lift, drag, and gravity/weight. Older children can also learn
about plane movements like roll, yaw, and pitch.
Many believe the use of paper airplanes originated 2,000 years ago in China.
• The earliest known date of the creation of modern paper planes was said to have been
1909.
• The largest paper aircraft had a wingspan of 59.74 ft.
• Joe Ayoob recorded the longest distance flown by a paper airplane in February 2012.
BOOMERANGS
• Paper airplanes are fun to make, but with a few easy tweaks, you can
make a special boomerang airplane that will return to you! You can
create your own origami super boomerang airplane with a few special
folds and then launch it with a modified throwing motion. Or you
could alter a squirrel paper airplane by tweaking its rudder to curve a
return path. Whichever you choose, once you feel the rush of having
your boomerang airplane return right back to your hand – that’s when
you’ll know all your hard work was worth it!
DISTANCE PAPER AEROPLANES
• John Collins shares how to fold this exact paper airplane. Joe Ayoob
throws a John Collins design, officially breaking the world record by 19
feet, 6 inches. The new world record, once verified by Guinness, will
be 69.14 meters (226 feet, 10 inches).
PAPER AEROPLANES WHICH STAY
AFLOAT FOR ALONG PERIOD OF TIME.
• 29.2 seconds
• Longest Flight World Record

The longest flight time of a paper airplane is a duration of 29.2 seconds. This world
record achievement was made in 2010 by Takuo Toda from Japan.
• How do you keep a paper airplane in the air longer?
• Here are a few ideas to get you started:
• #1: Increase Lift. As the plane travels, air moves quickly over the top of the wings. ...
• #2: Limit Drag. Air molecules push against the front of the plane as it travels, slowing it
down. ...
• #3: Change The Thrust. ...
• #4: Try A New Material.
Conclusion
• FINALLY WE LEANT WHAT A AEROPLANE AFLOAT, Thrust & Lift

• After this, paper airplanes are really gliders, converting altitude to

forward motion. Lift comes when the air below the airplane wing is
pushing up harder than the air above it is pushing down. It is this
difference in pressure that enables the plane to fly. When you throw
a paper plane in the air, you are giving the plane a push to move
forward. That push is a type of force called thrust. While the plane is
flying forward, air moving over and under the wings is providing an
upward lift force on the plane.
