-AR VERBS

FORM: 3
This week we continue to look at the present
tense of regular –AR VERBS.
◦ Once we are speaking about more than one person or thing;
“we”, we add –amos and “they” we add –an.

Nosotros-amos

Once you are included in the sentence you also add -amos
Examples of instances when we need add -amos
◦ We prepare the meal.
◦ We sing well.
◦ We take out the garbage.
◦ We study at the library.

◦ OR
◦ My mother and I prepare the meal.
◦ My friend and I sing well.
◦ My brother and I take out the garbage.
◦ My friends and I study at the library.
◦ Remember to drop the –ar ending then add - amos

(preparar)
◦ Mi amigo y yo ______________________ en la
biblioteca. (estudiar)

When do we add –an?

◦Ellos-they
◦Ellas-they
◦Ustedes-you (all) plural
Remember to first drop the –ar.
◦ Ellos ___________________________ bien. (bailar)
◦ Ellas ____________________________ la comida. (preparar)
◦ Ustedes ___________________________ en la biblioteca. (estudiar)
◦ Los chicos _______________________________ el violín. (tocar)
◦ Mis hermanas ____________________________ en el río. (nadar)
◦ Celine Dion y Mariah Carey ______________________ muy bien. (cantar)
◦ Los profesores ____________________________ bien. (enseñar)
◦ Mis amigos ___________________________ la música. (escuchar)
◦ Los estudiantes _______________________ por internet. (navigar)
