WHAT CHURCH SHOULD DO IN
FACING SUCH A CONTEXT?
For God was pleased to have all his
fullness dwell in him, and through him
to reconcile to himself all things,
whether things on earth or things in
heaven, by making peace through his
blood, shed on the cross.
(Colossian 1:19-20)

…., I have come that they may have life,

and have it to the full.
(Joh 10:10b NIV)

WHY CHURCH AND
COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION
(CCM)?

BASED ON THE GOD’S WORD

CHURCH HAS THE BIBLICAL

MANDATE FOR HOLISTIC MINISTRY

CHURCH GOES TO THE COMMUNITY

TO BUILD RELATIONSHIP

CCM Characteristics, Principles and Practices
1. It seeks to restore all four key relationships
(with God, Others, Self, Creation)
2. Aims to include in particular the most
vulnerable, and support them as a priority
3. It is initiated by the local church, but led
jointly with the community
4. It is group based, and not an individual
process, seeking common goals
5. The process looks primarily to the resources
of the church and community, before
bringing in external inputs to increase
capacity
Expected Outcome
of CCM
A well facilitated church and
community will impact people at
all levels: Spiritually, socially,
economically, intellectually –
beginning with the change of
attitudes & characters among
themselves
