Pacific

• It is the largest ocean on Earth, stretching from the Arctic


Ocean in the north to the Arctic Ocean, surrounded by Asia and
Australia in the west and the Americas in the east.
• The area is about one third of the total surface area of the
Earth and larger than the total area of Earth's total land mass.
• The equator divides the Pacific Ocean into two parts, "North
Pacific" and "South Pacific."

• The current name originates from the Portuguese explorer
