DRAWING
PENCIL
Children from early age can scribble as soon as you give a pencil to them. Pencil is
the easiest to use and available medium and a tool to express the inner desire of
writing on paper.

Types of Pencils
1. Graphite Pencil – the most common type of pencil that is encased in wood. These are
made of mixture of clay and graphite and the darkness varies from grey to black.
2. Colored Pencil – it has wax like cores with pigment and other fillers. Multiple colors
can be blended together.
3. Charcoal Pencil – These are made of charcoal and tend to
smudge easily than graphite pencil. It is the easiest tool to create
tones in Drawing

4. Water Color Pencil - These are designed for use with water color
techniques. Its strokes can be saturated with water and can spread
with brushes. Children who cannot manage the use of brush at
painting but wish to give water color effect can use such pencils.
After coloring, water can be applied which gives a smoothly effect
that are the same with water colors.
PEN AND INK
The use of pen and ink in an art is similar to that of a
pencil drawing. There are many types of pens that are available
in the market like felt tip markers, fountain pens and etc. We
can also create pens from the nature. E.g. sticks, bamboos,
reeds, crow quill, nib-pens etc. Each pen can form its own type
of line on paper which needs to be explored or experimented. A
lot of people should be encouraged to do drawings or write in a
calligraphy style using the ink and pen.
