Introduction

The

Break Dance or also known as B - Boying is an urban dance which is part of the Hip-Hop culture emerged in the afroamerican communities of the neighborhoods New Yorkers as Bronx and Brooklyn in the 70 although the real appreciation of culture it would in the 90's.

History
The

Break Dance was born in the United States by afroamericans and later Latin, as a form of separation of the comunity and also as an expression of feelings through the body. Shortly after flourished in Japan, with the Rock Steady Crew.

The Dance
It

is a dance that combines a series of aerobic and rhythmic movements, influenced from aboriginal dance, martial arts, gymnastics and the funk. The list of movements is great and require hard work and discipline to take place. The movements of bboying can be classified into 4 branches : toprock (dancing up), footwork (dancing down), power moves y freezes.

Movements
Toprocks:

Foot dancing. Simply follow the rhythm of music and move, making it in the less disciplined and more open. Some steps of toprock are the Indian Step, Salsa Step and Brooklyn Step. Falls and downs to the ground level are called drops.

Footworks:

They are the dance steps are made on the floor with hands and feet. The simplest steps support the most weight on the feet and more complicated in the knees. There are many basic steps as: 6-step, 4-step, babylove, pretzels, etc.

Powermoves:

They are often the most difficult moves and spectacular of b-boying that require greater physical capacity. Some of them are the Windmill, Flares, Airflares, Halos, Nineteens, Muchmill. This style of breakdance be based on continuous movements where force is applied, spins and speed.

Freezes: Are the movements in which the B-boy is "freezes" for a moment the rhythm of music. They are also the most difficult, required on all equilibrium and range of movement. There the air freezes which keeps the body still in the air, forgive the redundancy and with minimal support on the floor. Then there are the floor freezes which keeps the body by a low level in unusual positions. Some of the moves are the babyfreeze, turtlefreeze, airchair, chair, nikefreeze, etc.

Battles
They

are fighting between B-Boys (singles, in pairs, crews or as establishing). Sometimes usually do " entries " as battles, where it enters the dance space and can be make a single step or one combination of these to the next turn for another entry.

Also called challenges because in these tends to exceed the capacity of the opponent and see who is the B-boy with the highest level; when the battle is individual entries are free testing the unique style, when in pairs or groups biggest on some occasions performed creative choreographies.

To determine the winner is used score which qualify "Top Rock", "Footworks" and "Powermoves".
