Ear Training
What is ear training?
As musicians we train our ears so that we are able to identify Intervals and
Rhythms just by listening. When we get more advanced we can work on
identifying Harmony with our ears, but for now we will focus on intervals and
rhythms.
 Terms to know
Interval- The space between two notes

Quality- the type of interval

Major=happy

Minor=sad

Perfect=a fourth or a fifth

Practical application
We are going to transcribe a SUPER DIFFICULT SONG that you definitely have
never heard before! Use your ears to figure out what the notes are.

Lets see if we can put our song into noteflight! If you finish early here is the
audio with a bass part included. Please transcribe and add the bass part for
additional practice.

Choose your song and the aspect (Melody, bass, drums) of
the song that you want to practice.
Think about how you are going to present your song (Will
you play piano, sing along with the song, play the rhythms
on the drums, etc.) and begin practicing the part of your

Performance Summative!!!
1. Students will choose one aspect (Melody, Bassline, Chords, Drums) of a song from the chosen
genre and will transcribe it. Present the transcription.

Requirements- The transcription should be at least four measures long.

Transcribe
Take the aspect of your chosen song and begin transcribing it. Please input it
