Indefinite Pronoun
Indefinite pronouns are those referring to one
or more unspecified objects, beings, or places.
They are called “indefinite” simply because
they do not indicate the exact object, being, or
place to which they refer.
Example:
• Someone ate the last
slice of pizza.
Two important rules for
using indefinite
pronouns
• Indefinite pronouns, like
collective nouns, can be
singular or plural,
depending on how they
are used in a sentence.
• Singular indefinite
pronouns take a singular
verb; plural indefinite
pronouns take a plural
verb.
