1. CMT CORRECTION PARAMETER

CMT process parameter

The correction of the arc-length and the arc-

dynamic at the CMT process is generated by an
adjustment of the wire feed speed and the
welding current profile.

1a. CMT ARC LENGTH CORRECTION

Arc length correction

The length of the arc in the arc burning period is adjusted
by the time of the backward and forward movement. This
wire speed corrections in length and height are specific for
synergic line.

Unit -
Range -10 to + 10
Default 0

Application of the arc length correction

Positive correction causes a longer backward movement
period and a reduced forward feeding speed for the wire
electrode, what results in an extension of the arc within the
CMT process period.

Negative correction gives a shorter arc length by

reducing the time of the backward movement and
increasing the amount of the forward feeding speed of the
wire electrode.

1b. CMT DYNAMIC CORRECTION
Dynamic Correction
This correction represents the dynamic or short-circuit behavior of
the CMT drop transfer. The current-level at the point of reigniting in
a CMT period and the acceleration ramp of the wire feeder after the
point when the short circuit occurs, are adjusted with this
correction.

Unit -
Range -10 to + 10
Default 0

Application of the dynamic correction

The negative correction rises the current level at the point of

reigniting in a period and increases the acceleration ramp of the
wire feed speed. As a result the drop transfer time is shortened, the
process frequency is increased and CMT feels to be more intense.

The positive correction lowers the current level at reigniting and

gives a reduced acceleration ramp for the wire feeder. This results
in a longer duration of the drop transfer, the process frequency is
lowered and CMT feels to be smoother.

CMT Mix adjustment

„CMT Mix“ is a combination of CMT and PMC cycles in one welding process. Hot PMC process
periods are followed by cold CMT process periods.

The “high power time” and “low power time” -correction determines the ration between the hot-
and cold- process phase. Primarily the “arc length” and “pulse dynamic” can be adjusted. The
usage, as well as all correction parameters are explained below:

2d. CMT MIX APPLICATION POWER
CORRECTION & POWER TIME CORRECTIONS

Application of the power corrections

Rising the „high power time correction“ causes a reduction of the process frequency due to an
extension of the PMC process period.

Reduction of the „high power time correction“ rises the process frequency with an reduction of
the PMC process period.

The same applies to the CMT process period with the “low power time correction”.

Rising the “low power correction” gives a higher wire feed speed (wire deposition) and
therefore a higher welding current in the cold CMT process period.

2e. CMT MIX ARC LENGTH CORRECTION
Arc length correction with PMC Mix process

Similar to all FRONIUS welding processes, the mean value of the welding voltage is adjusted with the arc length correction.

Unit -
Range -10 to + 10
Default 0

Application of the arc length correction

A positive correction increases the welding voltage during the PMC period and gives a longer reversing time during the CMT period, which results in a reduction
of the arc length.

A negative correction lowers the welding voltage during the PMC period and gives a shorter reversing time during the CMT period, which results in an elongation
of the arc.

2f. CMT MIX PULSE CORRECTION
Pulse correction with CMT Mix process

The energy in the impulse process period of the PMC welding process is adjusted. The amount of energy or area below the pulses keep almost the same
area.

Unit -
Range -10 to + 10
Default 0

Application of the pulse correction

A positive correction enlarges the energy with an enlarged current level and width of the pulses, a reduced pulse-frequency during the PMC Period is the result.

A negative correction lowers the energy, current level and width of the pulse, a higher pulse-frequency during the PMC Period is the result.
