WHAT IS DESIGN
Design in architecture is the creative process of planning, and executing structures that
fulfill functional requirements while also embodying aesthetic, cultural, environmental,
and social considerations. It involves the integration of various elements such as form,
space, materials, technology, and context to create built environments that are both
visually pleasing and function

WHY DESIGN
Functionality, Aesthetics, Contextual Integration, Sustainability, Economic Viability

HOW TO DO DESIGN
Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Documentation,
Sketching
HOW TO START
WITH DESIGN ?
SITE ANALYSIS
Site analysis is a preliminary phase of architectural and urban design processes dedicated to the study of the climatic,
geographical, historical, legal, and infrastructural context of a specific site

Ex: sample site analysis of building with wind and sun directions
BUILDING BRIEF AND TYPOLOGY
Understand the requirements of our building given by the client (In
our case its our professor)
How many rooms ?
What kind of spaces?
Area of the rooms?
Example: Hospital, residential, School, Community center

6
GET INSPIRATION
1. Attend architecture lectures
2. Listen to TED talks
3. Architectural 3d visualizations
4. Go through Pinterest and social apps
5. Go through thematic books and Magazine

Some social apps : Pinterest, issuu, Behance

SKETCHING YOUR IDEAS
Through sketches, we express our ideas, and it is important to make sure that our ideas are presented correctly, the way we
want them to be
WHAT TO SKETCH ?
Start with a bubble diagram
What is bubble diagram
- Bubble diagrams are systems of lines and circles used in architecture to show relationships between functional areas of a program
to develop an architectural plan

YOUR IDEAS !!!

- shape and volume of the rooms and building
- sections and elevations
- material
- views
- opening spaces
- adding and subtracting of shapes
- grid structure
- structure
- axonometric views
HOW TO SKETCH ?
Get a print of your land in scale of 1:200, 1:500
Why ? Scaled print ?
It helps you to measure your sketch and register your sketch into software's like AutoCAD and other…

Get a transparent sheets to sketch on.

Why ? Transparent sheets
It helps you to understand your boundaries of the land and offset of your construction land, existing elements like trees, obstacles
