ABSTRACT
In modern smart cities, license plate recognition systems play a crucial role in various applications
like toll payment, parking fee payment, and residential access control. While traditional license
plate recognition algorithms have their limitations due to factors like light, shadow, and complex
backgrounds, the advent of deep learning and image processing has revolutionized this technology
Deep learning empowers license plate recognition algorithms to extract intricate features,
significantly boosting detection and recognition accuracy. This paper delves into the integration of
deep learning into license plate recognition, focusing on the key aspects by harnessing the power of
deep learning and image processing, this study contributes to advancing license plate recognition
technology, paving the way for more accurate, robust, and adaptable systems in smart city
applications.

Generative Adversarial Neural to recognize characters
Networks (GANs) in unconstrained LP.
Existing System
1. In existing system, to tackle the complex task of License Plate (LP) recognition
within naturalistic settings, particularly when dealing with low-resolution images.
2. The approach integrates single-stage character segmentation, adversarial
Super- Resolution (SR) methods, and strategic adjustments to the SRGAN
network architecture.
3. This novel framework significantly improves image quality, rendering it apt for
precise LP recognition. Notably, our approach surpasses alternative systems in terms
of accuracy, as substantiated by comprehensive evaluations encompassing visual
analysis, PSNR, SSIM, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
CONS
1. GANs requirea lot of computational power and can be difficult to train.

2. As it uses machine learning it need large amount of data to rain.

Proposed System
1. License Plate Recognition (LPR) has become an integral part of
modern surveillance and traffic management systems. So, our design
combines the power of image processing and deep learning to
automatically identify and extract license plate information from
images or video streams.
2. By leveraging image processing, LPR systems can locate and isolate
license plates within images, even in challenging lighting and
weather conditions.
3. The applications span across law enforcement, parking
management, toll collection, and beyond, contributing to enhanced
security and efficiency in various domains. Advances in deep
learning continue to refine and expand the capabilities of LPR
systems, making them an increasingly important tool in modern
society.
