This document describes a mini project to create a servo distance indicator using an ultrasonic sensor, Arduino, servo motor, and other components. The ultrasonic sensor measures distance through non-contact using ultrasonic pulses and time-of-flight measurement. An Arduino board controls and programs the components. A servo motor acts as a rotary actuator to precisely control angular position based on feedback from an ultrasonic sensor measuring distance to objects. The servo drive receives commands from the Arduino to move the servo motor proportionally and compares the actual position to commanded, correcting any deviations. Together these components form a servo distance indicator to measure and indicate the position of objects.

Introduction Ultrasonic sensor provides an easy way in distance measurement. The sensor is perfect for distance measurements between moving or stationary objects. Ultrasonic Sensor measure the distance of the objects in air through non-contact technique. They measure distance without damage and are easy to use and reliable. These distance measurement sensors connect with all common types of automation and telemetry equipment. Machinery and processes in a wide range of industries use distance measurement sensors where size or position feedback is required. Distance measurement sensors are used to control or indicate the position of objects and materials. Distance measurement sensors can determine the dimensions of objects such as height, width and diameter, using one or more sensors. The echo time response of ultrasonic sensor detector is based on time of travel after trigger pulse to the surrounding Objects is non-linear and depends on the reflectance characteristics of the object surface. Ultra Sonic sensors are widely used for distance measurement purposes. They offer low cost and a precision of less than 1 cm in distance measurements of up to 6m . However, the most popular method used in these measurements is based on the time of flight (ToF) measurement. This ToF is the time elapsed between the emission and subsequent arrival after reflection of an Ultrasonic pulse train travelling at the speed of sound. This causes large response times for a single measurement. Arduino Arduino refers to an open-source electronics platform or board and the software used to program it. Arduino is designed to make electronics more accessible to artists, designers, hobbyists and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments. Ultrasonic sensor An Ultrasonic sensor is an electronic device that measures the distance of a target object by emitting ultrasonic sound waves, and converts the reflected sound into an electrical signal. Ultrasonic waves travel faster than the speed of audible sound. servo motor A servomotor is a rotary actuator or linear actuator that allows for precise control of angular or linear position, velocity and acceleration. It consists of a suitable motor coupled to a sensor for position feedback. Servomotors are used in applications such as robotics, Block diagram of servo distance indicator How servo distance work A servo drive receives a command signal from a control system, amplifies the signal, and transmits electric current to a servo motor in order to produce motion proportional to the command signal. Typically, the command signal represents a desired velocity, but can also represent a desired torque or position. A sensor attached to the servo motor reports the motor's actual status back to the servo drive. The servo drive then compares the actual motor status with the commanded motor status. It then alters the voltage, frequency or pulse width to the motor so as to correct for any deviation from the commanded status Servo distance indicator Thank you
