acronym in web design.
BROWSERS
 Used in viewing webpages
 A browser is an application program that provides a way to look at
and interact with all the information on the World Wide Web.
 There are four leading web browsers − Explorer, Firefox, Netscape,
and Safari, but there are many others browsers available.

EMPTY
TAGS
Elements with no closing tag are known
as an empty tag. For eg: <br>(break
key), <link>, <img>, <hr>(horizontal
rule) etc. Since we can not specify
anything in between those. HTML
element which does not have a closing
tag are called Empty elements.
Empty tags can be thought of
as shortcuts, since there is no
data placed between the
opening and the closing tags.
HTML
Hypertext Markup Language, a

standardized system for tagging text files to


achieve font, color, graphic, and hyperlink
effects on World Wide Web pages.
HTTP
 Is the foundation of the World Wide Web, and is used to load

web pages using hypertext links. Hypertext Transfer Protocol


(HTTP) is an application-layer protocol for transmitting
hypermedia documents, such as HTML. It was designed for
communication between web browsers and web servers, but it
can also be used for other purposes.
TAGS
These are commonly defined
as a set of characters
constituting a formatted
command for a Web page.
URL
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator.
A URL is nothing more than the address of a
given unique resource on the Web. In theory,
each valid URL points to a unique resource.
Such resources can be an HTML page, a CSS
document, an image, etc.
It can be also identified as web address.
W3C
 The future direction of the Web will most likely be spearheaded by the

World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an organization that is led by Tim


Berners-Lee, the inventor of the Web. This organization is made up of
more than 450 organizations, among which are Microsoft, Apple Inc.,
Sun Microsystems, as well as hardware and software manufacturers,
academic institutions, and telecommunications companies. These
members provide inputs and suggestions geared towards improving the
Internet’s functionality.
WWW
The World Wide Web -- also known as the web, WWW
or W3 -- refers to all the public websites or pages that
users can access on their local computers and other
devices through the internet. These pages and
documents are interconnected by means
of hyperlinks that users click on for information. This
information can be in different formats, including text,
images, audio and video.
SERVER
A server is a networked
computer that is
providing a specific
service to other
computers on the
network.
WEB
TOOLS
Notepad uses basic text formatting to

make and edit text files. It may be the


simplest tool for making webpages, but
there are other web development tools
available.
WordPad, for example, can be used

to do basic formatting, while


Microsoft Word can be used to
autocorrect entries.
 WYSIWYG (pronounced wiz-ee-wig) is a type of editing

software that allows users to see and edit content in a form


that appears as it would when displayed on an interface,
webpage, slide presentation or printed document. WYSIWYG
is an acronym for "what you see is what you get."
GUI
 A GUI (graphical user interface) is a system of interactive

visual components for computer software. A GUI


displays objects that convey information, and represent
actions that can be taken by the user. The objects change
color, size, or visibility when the user interacts with them.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
NOTEPAD AND
WORDPAD
Notepad is a basic text-editing program that enables

computer users to create documents. Whereas,


WordPad is a program that you can use to create
documents such as letters, notes, etc.
