Theoretical
Framework of the
Study

Concentration is an important
cognitive ability that enables
individuals to focus their attention
and effort on a particular task or
activity. Furthermore, concentration
is the ability to direct one’s
attention in accordance with one’s
will, It means control of the
attention.
Chapter 1
Introduction of the Study
In the classroom, concentration is
essential for learning and academic
performance. However, numerous factors
can affect concentration, including
individual characteristics,
environmental factors, and external
distractions. The ability to concentrate
and stay focused is essential for
academic success, especially as they
progress to higher grades and face
increasing academic demands.
Chapter 1
Introduction of the Study

Grade 12 is a critical year for

students as they prepare for
final exams and make decisions
about their future education
and careers. As such, the
ability to concentrate and stay
focused in the classroom is
more important than ever.
Chapter 1
Introduction of the Study

This study is anchored to the 1973

theory of Daniel Kahneman's "The
Capacity Theory" which suggests that
our attention is limited and can be
divided among multiple tasks or
stimuli. According to this theory, when
we try to focus on multiple tasks at
once, our performance on all of the
tasks suffers, because our attention is
divided and not fully dedicated to any
one task.
Chapter 1
Introduction of the Study

In this study, we aim to explore the

factors that affect concentration in the
classroom among grade 12 students. The
researchers observed, the lack of
concentration in classroom is considered
to be one of the most prevalent
educational problems throughout
education. By understanding the factors
that influence concentration in the
classroom

This study has the potential to

inform the development of
interventions and resources to
support students in maintaining
concentration in the classroom,
which could have a positive
impact on academic outcomes and
overall well-being.

Students. Students will benefit

from this since they will learn
more about how concentration
works. They will learn what
influences their ability to focus
in class and raise awareness of
the distractions that can occur
when studying.

Teachers. The findings of this study can provide

valuable insights for teachers on how to create
a classroom environment that is to perform
concentration. By identifying the specific
factors that are most strongly associated with
student concentration, this study can help
teachers to target interventions and support for
those students who may be struggling in the
classroom. The results can also inform the

Concentration - the act of bringing together or

focusing, as, for example, bringing one’s thought processes

to bear on a central problem or subject (see attention)

(APA Dictionary of Psychology).

In this study, concentration refers to the ability of

students to remain focus during class inside the classroom.
