Structur of atomic
nucleus
In 1807 John Dalton called these tiny particles 'atoms',
from the Greek word atomos meaning indivisible. Atoms
are particles that are so small, it's hard to imagine. A
single dot at the end of this sentence alone is of about 20
million atoms. Atoms are made up of a nucleus that
contains protons and neutrons, as well as electrons that
move quickly around the nucleus.
What are its components?
NEUTRON
Neutral particle in the atomic
nucleus alongside protons.

ATOMIC NUCLEUS
Positively charged center of the atom containing
protons and neutrons.

PROTON
Positively charged particle
in the atomic nucleus.
History of the basic
particles atom
Atomic structure is the arrangement of protons, neutrons, and electrons
that make up an atom. Protons and neutrons are found in the atomic
nucleus, while electrons surround the nucleus. The nucleus consists of two
types of particles, namely protons and neutrons. Protons positively
charged, while neutrons are uncharged.

2. Joseph John Thompson in 1897
3. Ernest Rutherford in 1911
4. Niels Henrik David Bohr in 1913
WHY ELEMENTS CAN BE
RADIOACTIVE ?
The radioactivity of elements can be attributed to a variety of factors.

1. Rosseland (1923)
2. Siegel (2014)
3. Diehl (2018)
4. Gopka (2006)

These studies collectively highlight the complex interplay of factors that

contribute to the radioactivity of elements.
