Design in F&B Department Décor in F&B Department Cleaning in F&B Department Design The designers of food and beverage facilities must keep the perspectives of both guests and the owners in mind. Such elements as noise, lighting, color coordination, and the use of space must also be given careful consideration. Designers must be aware of government safety regulations pertaining to such emergency lighting, emergency exits, and the maximum number of occupants that public areas may accommodate. Design also affects service. In a dining area that is laid out properly, service staff members are able to do their work efficiently and guests feel comfortable. The proper design can even help assure guests that they have chosen the right place to dine. One factor that experienced designers take into account is that dining areas should usually appear comfortably full, few things are worse than having just or so guests dining in a large open dining room designed for 200 people. In this situation, the nearly empty appearance may cause guests to wonder if choosing this restaurant was a wise decision.
