MAKE
MENDO
AN
Introduction
Mendoan is a traditional
Indonesian fried snack made from
tempeh slices coated in a special
batter. It's crispy on the outside and
soft on the inside, making it a
delicious treat for any occasion.

Instructions
• Prepare the tempeh by slicing it thinly. Set aside.

• In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour,


rice flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and baking
powder. Mix well to ensure all the dry ingredients
are evenly incorporated.

• Slowly add water to the dry ingredients, stirring


continuously until you achieve a smooth batter
consistency. The batter should neither be too thick
nor too thin.
• Heat cooking oil in a deep frying pan or skillet over
medium heat.
Instructions
• Dip each tempeh slice into the batter, ensuring it's
completely coated.
• Carefully place the coated tempeh slices into the hot
oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

• Fry the tempeh slices until they turn golden brown


and crispy on both sides, flipping them occasionally
for even cooking. This usually takes about 2-3
minutes per side.
• Once done, remove the fried tempeh slices from the
oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper
towels to absorb excess oil.
Serve the mendoan hot with your favorite
dipping sauce or enjoy them as is.
