Properties of a Normal Curve

THE NORMAL CURVE

Example 1. Illustrating Normal Curve
Most tests that gauge one’s Intelligence
Quotient (IQ) are designed to have a mean of
100 and a standard deviation of 15. It is also
known that IQs are normally distributed. Draw
a curve that would represent the distribution for
IQs
Example 2. Illustrating Normal Curve
The amount spent for lunch by the students is assumed to be
normally distributed with mean of 90 and standard deviation of 5.
Construct the curve and illustrate the region that will represent the
following distribution.

1.Less than 90

2.More than 100

3.Between 70 to 90
Group Activity
This activity will be included in your performance task.
The score of the reporters will be the score of the group.
You will be graded according to the following rubrics:

40% - Correctness of the solution/graph

30% - Delivery and Presentation of the Topic
20% - Mastery of the Topic
10% - Cooperation
Group Activity
Groups 1 to 4 will answer letters a to d respectively. Each
group will choose 1 representative to report their work
after 10 minutes.
The amount saved by students per week is normally
distributed with mean P25 and is standard deviation of P3.
Construct the curve that represents the following
distribution:
a. less than P20 savings
b. Between P25 and P29 savings
c. greater than P28 savings
d. Greater than 31 savings
