Message from the Head

Welcome to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Rajshahi University of Engineering and
Technology (RUET). It is my pleasure to state that the MSE department started its journey in the year of 2017. The
department is offering the four years graduate program and currently it is running with total 150 students.
Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) is the field that leads in solving real-world problems associated with
nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology, energy, manufacturing and other major engineering
disciplines. By understanding the structure of matter, from atomic scale to millimeter scale, Materials scientists
invent new ways to combine chemical elements into materials with unprecedented functional properties. The
versatility in this field of study allows the graduates to flourish in almost every sector of the economy.
The department offers courses that are designed based on the modern concepts of engineering with due emphasis
on the industrial requirements in the country. The department has a bunch of faculty members who are competitive
in their research and teaching. As a student in the department you will be exposed to high quality inspirational
teaching and learning to acquire the fundamental knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for entry and success in
the professional practice. The goal of this department is to nurture Engineer-Leaders for the globalized economy of
the 21st century and aims at developing the ability of students according to our rapidly changing society. It is the
mission of this department to develop professionals with a global perspective who will take an active role in
international progress.
