FOOD
 Indian food is rich in taste and full of flavors.
 India is a big country with many states and regions.
 Each region offers a variety of dishes and cooking techniques.
 Each regional cuisine uses its own locally grown herbs, spices, fruits and vegetables.
 These regional cuisines collectively combined together form the very delightful
Indian Cuisine.
The staple Indian foods are Rice, Wheat and Lentils. Indians
are known for their curries all over the world.

CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS
India’s culture and traditions are seen in various aspects of life.

Some of them are:


 Greetings – The famous Indian Namaste: It is a word used for greeting people in India.
 Festivals and Religion : It is always festive in India.

India also sees a large number of festivals, mainly because of

the prevalence of diverse religions and groups.

The Muslims celebrate Eid, the Christians have Christmas and

Good Friday, the Sikhs have Baisakhi (harvesting of crop), and

the birthdays of their Gurus and the Hindus have Diwali, Holi,

the Jains have Mahavir Jayanti, the Buddhists celebrate the

Buddha's birthday on Buddha Poornima,…the list is endless.


 Family Structure - Joint Families: In India, there exists
the concept of a joint family, wherein the entire family
(parents, wife, children and in some cases, relatives) all live
together.

 Atithi Devo Bhavah :In India, the saying 'Atithi Devo


Bhavah' is also integral. It means 'the guest is equivalent to
god'.
LANGUAGES

India is the home of a very large number of languages.


There are 22 official languages in India.
Some of these are:
• English
• Hindi
• Bengali
• Marathi
• Gujrati
• Tamil,
• Sanskrit etc.

WEATHER
 India is one of the few countries which have a lot of variations in terms of seasons.
 India is a large, mostly hot, country in South Asia.
 India has different climatic regions, ranging from the very cold glacial north, to very dry and hot desert in the west and the hot
and humid tropical coast and islands in the south.
 It has the following seasons: Summer – April to June
Monsoon – June to October
Autumn - October to November
Winter – December – January
Spring – February to March
• Climate in India varies a lot from the permanently snow-capped Himalayas in the north to the tropics in the south.

• The extreme northern part of India has harsh winters and cool and pleasant summers.

• The desert in the west and north-west experiences extremely hot and dry summers and cold winters.

• The eastern, western and southern coastal plains have mild winters and very hot and humid summers with a lot of
rainfall in the monsoon season.
Though India is a country with different cultures, languages, customs, food habits, religions,
caste, creed, colur, we are still ONE UNIFIED COUNTRY called INDIA!!!
