HERMENEUTICAL

PHENOMENOLOGY
BY;ARLYN CEREÑO
THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF
HERMENEUTICAL PHENOMENOLOGY?

• Basic themes of hermeneutic phenomenology are

”interpretation”, “textual meaning”, “dialogue”
“preunderstanding ” and “ tradition”. Heidegger, Gadamer,
and Riceour are the foremost representatives of the movement
of hermeneutic phenomenology.
THERE ARE FOUR TYPES
OF HERMENEUTICAL
PHENOMENOLOGY.
• In this history of biblical interpretation, four major
types of hermeneutics have emerged; the
LITERAL INTERPRETATION, MORAL
INTERPRETATION, ALLEGORICAL
INTERPRETATION, ANAGOGICAL
INTERPRETATION.
LITERAL
INTERPRETATION
• Asserts that the biblical text is to be
interpreted according to the “plain meaning”
conveyed by its grammatical construction and
historical context.
MORAL INTERPRETATION
• A second type of biblical hermeneutical
which seeks to establish by which ethical
lessons may be drawn from the various parts
of the bible.
ALLEGORICAL
INTERPRETATION
• Method that assumes that the bible has various levels of
meaning and tends to focus on the spiritual sense, which
includes the allegorical sense, the moral sense, and the
anagogical sense, as opposed to the literal sense.
ANAGOGICAL INTERPRETATION
•Seeks to biblical events or matters of this
world so that they relate to the life to
come.
