2. BaseLines

3. Change objects

4. Documents

5. CAD documents

6. Dynamic documents

7. Managed Collections

8. Notes

9. Packages

10.Parts
Attachments:
You can attach content to a selection of Windchill objects,
including documents, change objects, and notes. Attachments
can be a local file, a URL link, or an externally stored source of
content.

Generally there are three types of attachments

• Local files

• URL

• Externally Stored Content

BaseLines:
A baseline is a snapshot of an evolving collection of Windchill data
objects and their status at a specific point in time. Each baseline
contains a static (unchanging) list of objects.

• Typical Use Case: Product History

You can use baselines to show the progress of a product
structure over time.

• Typical Use Case: Event

You can collect data that relates to a certain event. For
example, all data submitted for the client review at a
particular milestone.
change objects :
The change management system is based on standard change processes. The purpose
of this topic is to describe the terminology used in the change management system and
briefly describe the specific steps within the process.

Let us discuss about different terms used in Change objects:

• Affected End Items

• Affected Objects

• Change Objects

• Change Request

• Change Review Board (CRB)

• Implementation Plan
CAD documents:
• A CAD document is a business object that contains a CAD
design file (for example, a model or drawing) for
management in Windchill

• The CAD document information page is a collection point for

information related to the CAD document you are
investigating and is accessed by clicking the information
icon for the object.
managed collections:
• A managed collection is an organized set of objects that are
managed as a cohesive group. A managed collection differs
from a baseline.

• A baseline is essentially a snapshot of a group of

objects and cannot be updated.

• Managed collection contents are based on initially

selected objects and various collection options.
Notes:
A note allows you to document additional information
for a part, providing a simple method to communicate
between design and production.

Parts:
A part in Windchill is a logical database representation
of a physical item, or embedded software, used to
build a product.
Dynamic documents:
A dynamic document is a Windchill business object that contains the specialized
document types of certain authoring applications, including the following documents .
• PTC Mathcad data sheets

• Arbotext Editor XML files

For Arbotext applications, three dynamic document varieties are supported, described
by authoring application and Document Category.

• Arbortext Documents

• Arbortext Graphics

• Arbortext IsoDraw Graphics
