Galen’s Classification

 Galen has classified people into four types


 Choleric(irritable)
 Melancholic (Sad)
 Phlegmatic(sleepy)
 Sanguine(smiling)
Kretchmer’s classification

 Kretchmer classified human personality into three types


 Aesthenic- thin, long limbed, and narrow chested. Who are shy and sensitive.
 Pyknic- short, fat and barrel chested. Who are jovial,lively and outgoing.
 Athletic- strong and sturdy limbs and bones.
Spranger’s Classification

 Edward spranger classified human personality into six types.


 Theoretical- Persons who are theoretical in nature, neglect social and
political participation.
 Economic- Those persons who are interested in money- hoarding.
 Aesthetic- Those persons who love beauty.
 Social- Persons who are interested in social activities.
 Political- Dominating and desirous of power
 Religious- Persons who devote themselves to religious activities.
Sheldon’s Classification

 Sheldon’s classified human personality into three types.


 Endomorphic- Round, fat and soft.
 Ectomorphic- delicate, lean and linear body build.
 Mesomorphy- hard and muscular.
Lippitt’s Classification

 Lippitt classified human personality into three types.


 Authoritarian- forces his decisions ruthlessly with power on others.
 Democratic- seek consensus while taking decision.
 Laissez faire- Everyone acts on his own, the leader has no power or control
over others.
Ogburn’s Classification

 Ogburn’s classified human personality into five types.


 Revolutionist
 Leader
 Proud
 Gambler
 Exhibitionist
Jung’s Classication

 Jung classified human personality into two types.


 Extrovert
The extrovert get deeply involved in social activities.
He is not very much bothered by outside criticism.
He displays his emotions openly.
He is less worried about failure.
 Introvert
Introvert is immersed in his own thoughts, memories and imaginations.
He often tends to conceal his emotions.
He is highly sensitive to criticism and deeply upset by failure.
