THE THREE WISHES
Fritz and Anna lived on a small, dry farm. They were very
poor.
One day, a woman came to the farm. She was very hungry.
She asked Fritz and Anna to give her something to eat. They let
the woman come in to eat the soup they cooked.
“ Thank you,” said the woman. “You have been most kind.
I will grant you three wishes. Remember to use your wishes
wisely.
“ Thank you,” said Fritz and Anna.
As soon as the woman was outside the door, Fritz said,
“Let’s have one wish for you and one wish for me. Then
we will have one wish left for the two of us together.”
For most of the day, Fritz and Anna talked about the
the three wishes they could make.
By the time Anna and Fritz sat down to eat, Fritz said”
I wish we had sausage to go with our soup.”
And there on the table was a great big sausage!
“Oh Fritz,” said Anna, “there goes your wish! And
we only have one sausage! I wish we had many,
many, sausages.”
There was Anna’s only wish!
PUM, PUM,PUM! Great big sausages rained
down on them,
“Enough! Enough!”, cried Anna. “Get the
sausages off me!”
“Well,” said Fritz, “your wish is gone and mine is
gone. But together we have one wish left. Let’s wish to
get out from under the sausages.
The they both said, “We wish the sausages would go
away.”
Just as they had come, the sausages went away. There
was no sausages anywhere!
Fritz and Anna were at the table, with only soup to
eat.
“Oh Fritz”, said Anna, “I am so sad!
Here we are without anymore wishes.”
“Anna”, said Fritz, “we were happy
before the women cam. We can be happy
again,”
